On-time registration - $40, all ages, no matter whether staying the weekend or just coming for the day on Saturday pay the same.
Late registration - $50, all ages, no matter whether staying the weekend or just coming for the day on Saturday pay the same.
Please add $2 per person for plus-sized shirt (2X and larger).
Registration Fee Due Date: 3/25/2024 for on-time registration; 4/10/2024 for late registration (no guarantee you will get a shirt though).
Please also download the Leader Guide below for important information your troop needs! It includes all camp rules and full schedule. Internet service is spotty at CMJ, so you want to have that document saved on your phone or printed.
Overnight accommodations are NOT included with registration. Reserve lodging through the council at this site: www.gshg.org/en/discover/our-council/gshg-camps/reserve.html Camp is usually reserved by troops a few months in advance. Leaders communicate with each other via the leaders' Facebook group, email and at the monthly leader meetings to help each other with lodging since individual cabins cannot be reserved. Note that you can stay in tents for free.
The event starts on Friday night and ends on Sunday morning, though troops or girls can opt to just attend the Saturday activities. The cost is the same. Troops are responsible for making their own sleeping arrangements. Cabins can be rented through the council. Tent camping is always available for free any time at CMJ. Food is provided on Saturday as well as a t-shirt, water bottle and patch. Troops are responsible for their food on Friday night and Sunday morning. The event cost covers all food on Saturday. A packing list will be sent out to registrants.
There are campfire celebrations on Friday and Saturday night. Troops are encouraged to prepare songs and/or skits for Saturday night. Camporee staff will provide the entertainment on Friday night.
The activity stations are designed by older girls, ages 7th grade through 12th grade. Some stations are run by adult volunteers. Adult training, separate from girls' activities, is available. This is a really fun event that allows older girls a chance to develop their leadership skills while giving girls of all ages some new skills to apply to future campouts. Girls of all ages are encouraged to attend. There will be activities appropriate for every age group. Activities for 2024: Birdhouses - Girls will get to make a cut with a saw and drill the bird door. This station will use two station periods. Canoe - Intro to canoe. Girls will learn basic strokes, safety, how to get into the canoe and practice paddling. This station will use two station periods. *Leaders must help transport girls to Lake Tobosofkee 5 miles away. Archery - Girls will review the safety rules and get a lesson in how to shoot a bow and arrow and then practice shooting. Available only to 3rd grade and up. Fire - Girls will build an edible campfire and then collect wood and practice building a small fire and lighting it (depending upon age level). This is part of Learn a New Skill for camping badges. Animal tracks - Which animal made those prints? Where do they live? Part of animal badges. 1960s Tie Dye - Girls will tie dye a bandana to take home. 1950s Dance - Poodle skirts and saddle shoes...learn to dance. Gardener/Flowers - Parts of the garden and flower badges. Outdoor Art 1 - Make a flower board to take home or to beautify camp. May paint a watercolor nature scene. Outdoor Art 2 – Activities to finish the Outdoor Art badge, if combined with Outdoor Art 1. Volleyball - Learn to play volleyball, practice your skills (ball used will depend on age level). Field Games – Learn games you can play at camp with little or no equipment such Human Knot or Caterpillar. Hike - Take a hike around camp. Length adjusted for age level. Learn what you need to take with you on a hike. COPE Elements - Team/group games on the low ropes course elements at camp such as the balance beam or balance board. This station is very interactive and open to all abilities and ages. Intro to Medicine (Hands-on Science) - Learn to take a patient’s history and do a hands-on project to learn what a body system does. Junior and up will help to ‘diagnose’ their patient. Canning introduction - Girls will learn how to can jelly or jam and take a sample of it home. (2 class periods; 5th grade and up) Shapes in Nature - Based on the badges. Can you find nature items of a particular shape? Ms. Fix it - Join Miss Shannon to do activities from her favorite badge from when she was a Junior in the 1980s – Ms. Fix-It! Learn how to use small hand tools and how to fix things around the house.
